We celebrated Brandon’s third birthday party on Saturday in our building’s library room. The view is spectacular, we have the north view but since our building is next to the lakeshore drive, we could see the lake and the Navy Pier. They have served fruits, catered food from the big bow, and the best part is real sushi. Elizabeth has 6 pieces of fish and she is very happy with it. There was a magician and she is good at making all kinds of balloons, telling stories, dancing, etc. There are two kinds of cakes too, I like the fruit cake which is light and taste great, Eric likes the camel cake. We were the last people left the party, we had great fun!

I was reading about Melinda Gates last week from the Fortune magazine. I was inspired by her dedicated heart to help the world, to help people get better both in their health and to get better education. She is managing more than 30 billion dollars to give away, the organization has 500 people to review the grand everyday. I used to think that it is so easy to give away money but it is not true as you want your money to have the most use. The article also mentioned that she goes to gym 5 times a week, she is very fit. This made me to have my goal to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. Actually I went to the gym this morning and I feel great now.

My father in law was very good at doing investing in real estate, he has been doing it for years. Recently he has registered a class at the trump university to enhance his selling skills. He does not sell houses for others, he likes to build his own house and then sell it. The course that he registered in is Significantly Increase the Value of Any Property, mainly talks about how to increase the value of your property. Such as how to sell the same property with higher value or in a shorter time period. There are some tricks such as do not remodel the house in a poor way, meaning that either spend a lot on modeling and sell it or do not do it then the buyer can choose to do it himself. Since he is very good at doing remodel, he could give lots of constructive suggestions and then take the job to do it himself. He is consider real estate investing these days too.

I do not know it’s time to call it a crisis, but it is really crazy with the money that the large banks and financial association has lost. Etrade is the biggest percentage loss, it lost 86% compare to it’s market peak value to the year end value of 2007, the biggest dollar amount loss is citigroup, which lost more than 100 billion in one year. These banks are all in the process of securing debt from overseas, mostly from the Middle East. Let’s hope that this is the bottom of the crisis and everything is picking up soon.
